How to Set a Custom Android Ringtone
Many of you, esp. Android rookies, might try to find the way to set your own ringtone or notification/alarm sound on your Android mobile. Today I have a precise tip how to set a custom Android ringtone/sound. Here are a few steps:
Step 1: Download your ringtone from the internet or you can make your own ringtone or sound by Android apps, found in Google Play such as Ringdroid. In this case, I prefer it in the mp3 format.
Step 2: Create a new folder "audio" under /sdcard/media on your SD card. You will get /sdcard/media/audio.
Step 3: Create sub-folders to which your custom ringtone or sound will be copied. There would be 3 sub-folders:
- Alarm: /sdcard/media/audio/alarms
- Notification: /sdcard/media/audio/notifications
- Ringtone: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
Step 4: Copy your mp3 ringtone to any of the folders you wish.
Step 5: Go to the Sound settings. Select your custom ringtone/sound in the list. Done!
*** This works on Android 2.3.x (Gingerbread) and lower.
